It has been long known that using cosmetics can provide a “feel good factor”, contributing to an overall perception of wellness. Research has also shown a link between emotional stress and skin condition. The term ‘neurocosmetic’ has been coined for an expanding field of cosmetic research, encompassing the ability of a cosmetic ingredient, fragrance or product to modulate sensory perception and hence affect mood, emotion and well-being.

This talk will review the ingredients that a formulator has available today to deliver effective products with an emotional benefit or increased application pleasure. It will examine what has been shown to work on a neurological level and the role of sensory enhancement in delivering benefits for both the skin and mind.
